THEPompano Catch 🐟
|
Here's something to think about next time you're at the beach: sound travels about four times faster underwater than through the air. Blue whales take full advantage. Their calls can carry across entire ocean basins, hundreds of miles, to another whale just trying to mind their own business.
So while you're standing in the ankle-deep water on Saturday morning, there's a decent chance some whale a few hundred miles out is yelling at another whale through the same water you're standing in. Nature's group chat.
Meanwhile, I have 991 unread text messages.
Anyway, here's what's happening in Pompano this week. 🐟

🛹 $1.8M Skatepark Coming to Community Park
📅 Opening later this year📍Pompano Beach Community Park · 820 NE 18th Ave 💰 Free · City-funded
Pompano is finally getting a proper skatepark. The city is pouring $1.8M into Community Park for a full build-out: concrete bowls, street features, and room for BMX and scooters too.
Translation: no more hauling the kids to Boca or Lauderdale when they want to skate.
Shaded seating and the playground are right next to it, so siblings don't have to fight for your attention while someone's learning to drop in. Bring water. It gets hot out there.
🚗 Parking: Free on-site lot off NE 18th Ave. 👉 parks.pompanobeachfl.gov
